24 May Color Harmonies – Split Complimentary
The SPLIT COMPLIMENTARY color harmony takes two Complimentary colors, but splits one of them into its Analagous colors. It’s just like the Complimentary+Analagous, but it’s a 3 color scheme, and not a 4 color scheme.
You can get quite a bit of variety using this scheme. It’s a good one to have a focus color, while still having beautiful background colors.
Again, as with all these high contrast harmonies, you want to take a look at the fabric carefully, because often the variance between the colors will be great enough that it can become an issue.

Now, let’s take a look at our 4 scenarios and see what we come up with:
Fill (shown above and below): SCT003 used.  For both of these designs, I just broke the blackwork fill repeat down into 3 different steps, and played with how I would use the color in each. Stunning results!
NBB-2315: SCT004 used.  Yet another pretty design. This design works like a quilt block, and just rotating the block around adds interest! Wouldn’t it be pretty repeated more time, and you end up with a pretty pillow!
NBB-6001: SCT005-3a used.  I played again with this one, and like the result.  Look at how the focus thread 07, is repeated throughout. Then the accent colors are used giving it a good backdrop.
