These thread scheme, again, is based on the Red-Yellow-Blue, or subtractive color scheme. It’s the basic color scheme out there, but a good one to have. The basics of how color harmonies work will be discussed using this color scheme, so you’ll see this one often.   This scheme utilizes DMC 6-strand floss.

You’ll find that most of the thread scheme that I come up with, are based off of DMC. It’s got an incredible color range, but it’s also been around forever. The first floss I played around with were DMC. Also, there are lots of lists out there which color match to other companies, so once I give you a DMC number, you can translate it into many other lines.

For each of these thread schemes, or palettes, , I’ll include both an image showing how it was built (to the left), and a thread color scheme, with actual thread numbers, that you can print out. Feel free to save these cards, because you never know when you’ll need them.
